Romelu Lukaku: Roma and Chelsea are in discussion regarding a striker loan deal for Belgium. |
Romelu Lukaku is being discussed by Roma and Chelsea as a possible loan candidate this year.
The Serie A team may be the answer to the predicament that Lukaku, 30, and Chelsea are facing. Negotiations are still in the early stages.
Despite being trained separately from the first squad, Lukaku, who spent the previous season on loan at Inter Milan, was not included in Chelsea's preseason plans.
Jose Mourinho, the manager of Roma, oversaw Lukaku at Chelsea and Manchester United.
When Mauricio Pochettino seized the helm at Stamford Bridge in July, he was aware of the club's intention to offload the Belgian attacker.
"It's not my responsibility to find a solution if the player and the club want to, it's theirs. Consequently, the player andPochettino stated at a press conference prior to Chelsea's Premier League home game against Luton Town on Friday (kickoff 20:00 BST) that the club would meet and advise him that things had changed.
"Until the club or the athlete wants to speak with me, I won't move. I'm here, and I accept the circumstances as they were when I got here.
By the end of the European transfer window on September 1, Chelsea anticipates having made a decision regarding Lukaku's future, whether it be a permanent transfer, a loan agreement with a sizeable price or an obligation to buy, or both.
They do not anticipate the transaction to be completed quickly, and if Saudi Arabia showed interest, they would consider selling Lukaku The deadline for transfers is September 20.
