A black Mercedes slammed onto a flooded road in Liverpool, killing two people.

According to police, two people have perished after a car was allegedly driven into a flooded area of Liverpool.

The guy and woman crashed into the heavy waters in Mossley Hill on Saturday night while driving a black Mercedes Class 180. A neighbour described the flood as a "waterfall" that was several meters deep.

When a bystander noticed red car lights submerged in the water just before 9:30 p.m., they alerted the emergency services.

After rushing to the flooded area on Queens Drive, firefighters and police officers assisted in helping to locate the two, according to Merseyside Police.

They were both brought to the hospital, where they were both declared dead. According to a nearby resident who spoke with the Liverpool Echo, she called the police shortly after 9 p.m. on Saturday after spotting red lights beneath the deep water, which the taxi she was riding in just barely missed going into.

"It was completely dark by the bridge and I live on the street behind Queens Drive. "We almost drove into the water, and it was so dark that the driver's vision was blurred," said Rebecca Wilson, a 27-year-old who estimated the flood depth at 15 feet.

"As we turned the car around, a wWe are still pleading for anyone who was on Queens Drive between North Mossley Hill Road and Dovedale Road at around 9.20 p.m. last night and witnessed the accident to come forward as soon as possible. rfall appeared to be descending from the side of the bridge.

"As I turned to my friends and peered back out the window, I said that I thought I had just seen red lights under the sea and that I thought maybe someone had gotten stuck. For my own protection, I called the police.

According to authorities, the man and lady have now been positively recognized, and their family members have been notified. The coroner has been given a file and instructed Merseyside Police to look into the incident more thoroughly.

It happens just one month after emergency personnel had to save a woman whose car became caught in high floodwaters during flooding in the Mossley Hill neighborhood.

Richard Kemp, the deputy lord mayor of Liverpool, claimed that for the past 20 years, he has regularly mentioned the issue of flooding at the location.

He claimed that although temporary steps had been taken, "this has never been enough" in a letter to the council.

The main issue, according to him, is that the drainage system's core is over 150 years old and obviously insufficient.

Any witnesses or drivers with dashcam footage are urged to come forward by the police.

Despite the best efforts of passing by members of the public, our detectives, and Merseyside Fire and Rescue Services at the site, a man and a woman tragically lost their lives in this event, said Detective Chief Inspector Mike Dalton.
