As Craig Revel Horwood "finally" handed a score of 10, the first perfect mark of the 2023 series, spectators were left astonished.


Layton Williams, a musical theater star, was put in the dreaded dance off in last week's episode, but he recovered admirably this week, receiving widespread applause.



Williams' rendition of "Backstage Romance" from Moulin Rouge, performed with his professional partner Nikita Kuzmin, amazed the judges! The Musical, and for their efforts, the two were awarded the maximum score of 40.


Up until this point, Horwood had been reluctant to award 10 points; in fact, co-host Claudia Winkleman of the show exclaimed, "Good Luck, and I think from all of us, we're saying 'Craig, sort it out,'" before the judges' scores were revealed.



After that, Horwood gave Williams a ten, and the other three judges agreed. This elicited a thunderous cheer from Kuzmin and Williams in addition to the studio audience.


"On behalf of a nation, Craig, thank you for finally getting your '10' back out," co-host Tess Daly said to Horwood. Because of that, we adore you.



Williams has addressed criticisms made by fans regarding his professional caliber of dancing skills.


Williams, a competitor in this year's BBC dancing competition, has come under fire for allegedly having an unfair advantage because of his background in musical theater.


In an interview for The Guardian, the actor from Everyone's Talking About Jamie addressed the criticisms regarding his past dance expertise, stating that preparations are more difficult for him than they may appear.



Regarding the criticism, he remarked, "I've taken it on the chin; I get what everyone's saying."


It's not easy for me, though, to be a fly on the wall in this rehearsal space.


Williams, who dances with Strictly professional dancer Nikita Kuzmin, said he finds his partner's choreography difficult and worries the judges will penalize him because of his musical theater training.


Williams remarked, "I want to rise to the challenge, so I'm not sad about that."


In another segment of the most recent Strictly program, Nigel Harman gave an explanation for his decision to leave the show just hours before it was scheduled to air.



The BBC revealed that the 50-year-old actor from Casualty had to withdraw from the dance competition because of an injury he experienced during practice.


Daly and Winkleman discussed Harman's departure at the start of the show and discussed how it will affect this week's results.
