The 1975 frontman Matty Healy's mother and former Corona star has rushed to social media to comfort fans after rumors that she had passed away went viral.

On Sunday, December 3, Denise Welch, who played Natalie Barnes on Coronation Street, became the victim of an internet scam about her death.

Inaccurate reports of the 65-year-old's death appeared on her Wikipedia page.

The supposed cause of death being described as "a case of explosive diarrhoea" added to the tragic nature of the fake.

According to a screen grab of the Wikipedia page, Welch passed away in 2023 following an episode of explosive diarrhea.

Denise, who now frequently participates on panels on ITV's Loose Women, used social media to dispel the rumors.

She said, "I'm alive and well and about to watch the jungle," in a post on X, the former Twitter. I appreciate your concern.

The main image of Denise Welch on her wikipedia page has been replaced with a photo of Meghan Markle, the Duchess of Sussex, and singer P!NK, presumably by the person behind the fake.

The changes further implied that her "last words" were "Covid!!! Conspiracy!!! 5G towers!!!" according to posts on X.

The prank appears to have been stopped by Denise's post on X, as numerous followers responded to her remarks with the phrases "Thank God" and "Good to hear".

The page has been updated, but Wikipedia has not replied to the edits.
