Rishi Sunak stated on Monday that the issue with small boats cannot be resolved "overnight" while not making a commitment to cease migrant crossings by the next general election.

In response to his promise to halt the Channel boats, the prime minister chose not to provide a timeframe. Under Mr. Sunak's premiership, the number of individuals arriving in the UK on tiny boats surpassed the 25,000 barrier last week. Over 100,000 people have entered the country overall since 2018.

The Prime Minister pledged to pass a law addressing small boats this year when he presented his five goals for his term in office, and this goal has finally been reached.

However, the Government has narrowed the focus of its messaging to the more general "stop the boats" command, which has resulted in· inquiries as to when he expects to accomplish that goal.

When asked if he would be able to do so by the time of the next election during a visit to a nursery in North Yorkshire, Mr. Sunak responded, "Stopping the boats is one of my top five goals.

"The existing system is completely unjust and unsustainable, but it is especially unfair to British taxpayers who are paying millions of pounds to keep illegal immigrants in hotels and neighborhood communities.

"That's incorrect. That needs to end, and we're striving to do so. It's a difficult issue to resolve. I never said that we would be able to resolve it quickly; it will take time, and we must approach it in a variety of ways.

However, I'm glad that there are fewer illegal immigrants. For the first time in a while, fewer migrants are crossing this year. That proves that our strategies are effective, but there is obviously still work to be done, and I want people to know that I'm committed to solving this issue.

When questioned once more on whether it will be completed by the next election, he responded, "I want it to be completed as quickly as possible, but I also want to be honest with people that it is a complex problem, that there is not one simple solution, and that it can't be fixed overnight. If I stated it was conceivable, I wouldn't be being completely honest with folks.

The following general election is scheduled for next year. It will happen in the fall, according to insiders at Number 10, and Mr. Sunak will know the exact date.

The Prime Minister also defended proposals to put migrants on the same RAF base in Lincolnshire where the Dambusters operation was launched during World War II.

When questioned about the potential risk that relocating refugees to RAF Scampton might bring to a multi-million dollar investment there, he responded, "Of course the Home Office and other authorities are in communication with all local partners to work through all the unresolved difficulties and challenges. But more importantly, we need to put a halt to the boats.
