Bristol stores were destroyed by a downpour.

After a period of excessive rain, a number of stores throughout Bristol have suffered damage.

On Saturday night, water gushed from the ceilings of shops in Cabot Circus and Avonmeads Retail Park.

The fruit and vegetable aisle at Sainsbury's in Brislington was flooded, and ceiling tiles were falling from the Lidl in Avonmeads.

In certain parts of the city, the downpour flooded gardens and roadways, although most of the water evaporated overnight.

One of the worst hit retailers was Lidl.

While repairs are being made, a large number of the stores at Avonmeads Retail Park are still shuttered.

Through Sunday afternoon, a few light rain showers are predicted. The evening will be generally dry with some cloud cover.

The odd shower could, however, occasionally come in from the northwest.

After the rain, Sainsbury's suffered significant damage.

Wilko employees have started cleaning up the water.

In several parts of the city, the deluge caused roadways and gardens to flood.
