Susanna Reid explains why she hasn't appeared on Good Morning Britain in a while. |
Susanna Reid addressed why she has continued to miss Good Morning Britain by saying that a vocal chord illness has been identified.
The TV personality, who was unable to conduct the ITV breakfast show the morning following the National Television Awards because she had lost her voice, apologized to viewers for her absence from the screen and assured them that she did not have COVID.
"Sorry I won't be with you in the morning," Reid said in a video posted to her Instagram stories. I didn't even know I had a slight infection in my vocal chords (not C), though! They require a little more rest. I'll see you shortly.

"A little update—I feel completely good, but as you can hear, my voice is not at its full potential. The specialist I met on Friday advised against risking it until it is better. I appreciate everyone at GMB for stepping forward and for the great advice you all provided.
"So sorry not to see you tomorrow, @gmb," she continued. With the help of professional treatment and your wonderful advice, I expect to have my full voice back very soon.
On September 11, Ranvir Singh and Ed Balls filled in as the show's hosts.
Reid arrived to the studio the morning after the NTA Awards, but Charlotte Hawkins took her place as co-anchor of GMB when it became clear that Reid's voice was unfit to host the program.
Reid squeaked: "I'm fine, I just can't speak," when she appeared through video link-up from her dressing room.
"I have no idea [what is wrong]. I'm not sure if my vocal chords were inflamed by the heat. It's amusing because, of course, yesterday night was the NTAs and the driver of my cab told me, "You're the first person to leave." You're clearly not having a good time.
