Mason Greenwood won't be playing for Manchester United any more. On Monday, the English record champions made this known. An internal probe into the 21-year-old's dismissed attempted rape case came before this. Initially, the club apparently had plans for his comeback.

Everyone involved, including Greenwood, would have recognized the challenges continuing his career at Manchester United would have brought. This led to a consensus that it was "most appropriate" for Greenwood to continue his career elsewhere than Old Trafford, the statement on Monday afternoon said. "We will now cooperate with Mason to make that exit," was said.

The declaration is the product of a protracted investigation the club launched when charges against Greenwood, including attempted rape charges, were abruptly dropped in February 2023 because "there was no longer a realistic prospect of a conviction." The club stated, "Throughout the process, we have considered the wishes, rights, and opinions of the alleged victim as well as the club's standards and values."

The statement continued, "Based on the data at our disposal, we have found that the information put online did not represent the whole circumstances and that Mason did not conduct the offenses with which he was first charged. Despite this, Mason publicly acknowledges his mistakes today and accepts responsibility for them.Greenwood himself reinforced this in a statement. The statement reads, "I acknowledge that I made mistakes in our relationship and accept responsibility for my part in the events that gave rise to the social media post. anything it might imply.

"The Athletic" claims that United had genuinely intended for Greenwood to return.

Due to the Greenwood cause, the club had been threatened with an ordeal and was split on various levels. The Chief Executive of United, Richard Arnold, reportedly alerted the club's governing authorities of Greenwood's impending return to the roster of the English record champions in early August, according to The Athletic's article from last Wednesday. Therefore, on August 4th, a video message should be sent out to clarify the choice.

The club gave a formal denial in response. the raging protest wave that theReport appears to have prompted United to reconsider now, both inside and outside. The Athletic, which is reportedly well-versed in internals, claims that a crisis meeting took place on Friday. The online portal claims that club staff reportedly thought about quitting or going on strike in the event of Greenwood's return. A potential return was harshly attacked in the public eye, particularly by a number of English Parliamentarians.

Hateful remarks made at players from United during stadium protests by fans

There were demonstrations outside Old Trafford and within the stadium prior to the team's first home game of the year, a 1-0 victory against Wolverhampton Wanderers last Monday. Female United supporters held up a sign that read, "Female Fans Demand No Greenwood Return - End Violence Against Women."

However, there were some fans who had been calling for Greenwood's comeback for some time, particularly on social media, and who frequently made the hashtag #MasonGreenwood trend whenever United faced goalscoring issues once more. England internationals Mary Earps, Katie Zelem, and Ella Toone were away at the World Cup in Australia when it was recently announced that United's women's team would have to approve Greenwood's return. Their profiles were flooded with comments. Most of them are threatening, nasty, and intimidating.

Greenwood's lucrative deal with the club runs through the summer of 2025, and ever since he was let go, he has continued to collect the entire wage of an alleged £75,000 per week. The attacker didn't play for the club he joined at age seven until 22.In the 1-0 victory over West Ham United in January 2022.
